The Mad Greek has been part of the Charlotte community since 1991, serving authentic Greek food and bringing the flavors and hospitality of Greece to Charlotte for more than three decades.
In 2024, Kostas Pitsonis and his son Yianni Pitsonis proudly took over The Mad Greek and began a new chapter for the restaurant. Kostas is originally from Athens, Greece, while Yianni was born and raised in Charlotte and later played professional soccer in Greece. Together, they bring a strong connection to both Greece and Charlotte that is at the heart of what The Mad Greek is today.
Since taking over, the Pitsonis family has worked to honor the restaurant’s history while bringing fresh energy to the experience — improving the restaurant, expanding catering and events, introducing new drinks and ideas, and continuing to focus on authentic Greek food and hospitality.

The food is always fresh and delicious! Staff is friendly and helpful. The homemade Greek dressing is fantastic. It's very unique compared to other Greek dressing. Homemade fries, gyro, chicken, and lamb chops are all great. Tzatziki sauce is very good
The food was delicious, the service was great, and we really enjoyed it! Loved the atmosphere and vibe. My club sandwich was really good and I loved the fries!
This was my first visit. Everything from the food to the service was amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant. They also have good food that isn't considered Greek. I will definitely eat here again. There roasted red pepper hummus and tzatziki sauce were both delicious. The pita bread was fresh also.
